In spite of the many mutilations endured throughout the centuries, the author shows us how the Universal Hermetic Truths were also professed by the early Christian communities, and how its 'living christianity' is still completely relevant and pertinent to the spiritual seeker of today. All real work of redemption, under whatever name it was undertaken within historical memory, finds its origins in the Egyptian Mysteries, in the fundamental wisdom of Hermes Trismegistos, and in this book the author connects us through this to the only path to true Life.

In this first volume of The Egyptian Arch-Gnosis, Jan van Rijckenborgh outlines the fundamental state of humankind on the basis of the Tabula Smaragdina and the first two books of the Corpus Hermeticum. Mankind is bound to temporariness, while eternity is its destination. The reader is made aware of the great potential of the true human being as a microcosm.
